The following story was found when I was googling for some doubts about barometer.But after reading it even though I did not have time to spare I really had to put this story which amused me over here and here it goes....

The following concerns a question in a physics degree exam at the University of Copenhagen:
"Describe how to determine the height of a skyscraper with a barometer."
One student replied:
"You tie a long piece of string to the neck of the barometer, then lower the barometer from the roof of the skyscraper to the ground. The length of the string plus the length of the barometer will equal the height of the building."
This highly original answer so incensed the examiner that the student was failed immediately. The student appealed on the grounds that his answer was indisputably correct, and the university appointed an independent arbiter to decide the case.
The arbiter judged that the answer was indeed correct, but did not display any noticeable knowledge of physics. To resolve the problem it was decided to call the student in and allow him six minutes in which to provide a verbal answer that showed at least a minimal familiarity with the basic principles of physics.
For five minutes the student sat in silence, forehead creased in thought. The arbiter reminded him that time was running out, to which the student replied that he had several extremely relevant answers, but couldn't make up his mind which to use. On being advised to hurry up the student replied as follows:
"Firstly, you could take the barometer up to the roof of the skyscraper, drop it over the edge, and measure the time it takes to reach the ground. The height of the building can then be worked out from the formula H = 0.5g x t squared. But bad luck on the barometer."
"Or if the sun is shining you could measure the height of the barometer, then set it on end and measure the length of its shadow. Then you measure the length of the skyscraper's shadow, and thereafter it is a simple matter of proportional arithmetic to work out the height of the skyscraper."
"But if you wanted to be highly scientific about it, you could tie a short piece of string to the barometer and swing it like a pendulum, first at ground level and then on the roof of the skyscraper. The height is worked out by the difference in the gravitational restoring force T =2 pi sqr root (l /g)."
"Or if the skyscraper has an outside emergency staircase, it would be easier to walk up it and mark off the height of the skyscraper in barometer lengths, then add them up."
"If you merely wanted to be boring and orthodox about it, of course, you could use the barometer to measure the air pressure on the roof of the skyscraper and on the ground, and convert the difference in millibars into feet to give the height of the building."
"But since we are constantly being exhorted to exercise independence of mind and apply scientific methods, undoubtedly the best way would be to knock on the janitor's door and say to him 'If you would like a nice new barometer, I will give you this one if you tell me the height of this skyscraper'."
The student was Niels Bohr, the only Dane to win the Nobel Prize for physics.

This is a screen shot of the Venus transit in between the sun and the earth which I watched from the Ustream live channel.I got up late so I could only watch the last half n hour of the whole thingy.But I got to watch it with an elderly who didn't have to go to job today and I liked it since next one is on 2117.

Open source free software supporter is who I am.On behalf of that thought every chance I get I try to persuade someone to use the free software alternative if present.Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.Even then I totally love the way windows7 or xp works in my old computers when the unity fan ubuntu or anyone from the gnome family try to make my computer look oldish..(Oldish--Is that even a word!!) and compels me to look for XFCE or LXDE or E17 ..etc alternatives.

So as I was trying out the the distro named Linpus lite desktop 1.7 version on my USB and after trying many time it still did not boot from the usb(Yes,This have a very bad reputation on booting from usb).So I thought I may try the other chineese OS linux deepin from USB.But this time there was a different problem USB wouldn't mount because of not being able to read the superblock it says.So I tried doing almost every thing that the different forums told me to but it still couldn't do the needy and it showed this "Giving up".

So I thought I might format it using windows on my other computer but even in windows it was taking lot of time to read it though it was being listed in the MyComputer(I was partly happy as a small hope appeared out of nowwhere--And its still not DEAD).But windows was taking unusual amount of time to read the usb drive attached.Seeing this I closed the GUI showing the MyComputer and run the command prompt.

From my past experience from linux terminal I naturally didn't expect much from the MS command prompt.Even then I gave it a try .So I sat there for an hour doing things in the ways exactly as mentioned in the forums of windows

and Guess What ...!!!

I was wrong and I am now writing this on blogger while the next os is made as live usb using unetbootin in the pendrive that was made alive by MS command prompt.

Its clear that I do not know the technicalities behind it.But I sure know this
"MS Command promt made me happy today!!"

PS:The said USB was not mine but it was a borrowed from someone who had borrowed it from another.And I do not want to imagine the look of the face when I break this news to the *person*(notice the stars around it--it speaks).

I have in past two days been infront of the system doing nothing.So I thought I might change the blogger theme when I correct my previous post.Now both the task are done.I now need to get back to what I really want to do.So for that I going to make little sacrifice and discard all ongoing downloads and change my OS to Xubuntu 12.04 LTS(3year support).

The reason I am switching to xubuntu is for need of a faster system than a gnome based OS.As working speed and efficiency for all the new gnome or unity based linux OS's in older hardwares are nowhere in par with the standards of Microsoft Windows.

Plus,In addition ubuntu have dropped support for Non APE based system in their new LTS version(Support for 5 years).While lubuntu and Xubuntu have given support for Non APE based system(May be because they are aimed for the ageing hardware).

So to install ubuntu 12.04 in a Non APE based systems the following are the options :
1-Using the Ubuntu Minimum ISO
2-Upgrade from an earlier version of ubuntu.

So I have stop writing and have to get back to put xubuntu in my computer.

I have used ubuntu before,and I have used blogging softwares before but it took me till now to find some simple piece of blogging software for moon OS (based on ubuntu with a different filesytem)to just to get the posting to blog done.I am starting to sound like I have been trying since long.But in reality I have just forgot how to get in back of things and I am now abound a train which have no direction but bounces off on all wall that I know I can penetrate through but dont want it to happen.

Yes in these times I have not been writing here eventhough I was completely active in the interwebs but only doing the reading part.Now I think I have found the perfect pattern but not direction because I cannot differentiate it.So in coming times I have to try to get me back in the routine that I was into before in all manner possible.
So in order to get started with I will be in future cross posting from the journal I started writing since this week at another online service which I do not want to publicize(You can understand right??).

Anyway now I have to go post what I have here over there too...

See what I meant by no direction it can just flip like that !!!

I know you may have at some point or may be everytime felt the same about your life and may you have got over it.I on another other hand feels afraid to reach out and get the trouble over with for once because I cannot convince myself to others how I really feel in a manner which they take it seriously.Which means it never happens and I end up in loop doing the same and feeling the same as I always has done or felt.

I know...Its getting boring and I know you dont have a clue what I am talking about..so just dont mind me emptying my head here in open in a rather closed manner.I do that a lot.And I must really stop writing now.

USER REVIEW ON AVG FREE ANTIVIRUS


I have been trying out Avg free antivirus over past months.And
I thought,why not prepare a user review about the same and
here is the things that I think about the product.

General Info:

-It’s a free antivirus program from AVG who has another
premieum product too in the antivirus segment.
-It does not have a firewall with it.( most free antivirus software don’t have it but I have seen firewall in the comodo internet security system-which too offer free).
-Link scanner does a good job.

Facts I found about it:

-Scanning time required are less for almost every type of scan
compared to the free products in market.
-Boot time reqiured increased considerably.While shutdown time not much affected.
-Other running programs perfomances are not affected.Which is a very postive thing.
-Link scanner eventhough is good.It will exit the web browser without giving any chance for the user to pause downloading tasks,saving open web based works..etc(So you have to be in caution every time you feel that the computer is not responding the way that it should and start taking the action).
This can prove to be highly frustrating at times and I did not find any settings change options for this.*If someone found this do post as a comment.*
-Its real times protection features are quite good.

So Prons and cons:

Prons includes:

1.Its free.
2.Online support is also good.
3.Virus detection shows stableness and seldom saw any safe files being shown as a threat while many other free antivirus does that often.
4.Not affecting the speed and efficiency of executing other apps.
5.User interface is simple.
6.It does not need any registering to continue usage(Which is
the case of free antivirus like the avast after 30 days).

Cons includes:

1.Slows the booting considerably(I will put it in between 10-20sec) and shutdown too is lagging in time (not as much as booting ofcourse !!) compared to a non protected system or other free antivirus I have tried.

2.Apps like PC analyser(I meant the full thing not available-only a one time free online test) not given in the free edition.Controlling settings of apps is difficult.

3.Annoying advertisements with AVG FREE ANTIVIRUS will cause the system to lag and this can make the software appear sluggish to you.
On weighting the pros and cons from listed even though the number of pros being more I uninstalled it from my system.Mainly due to the sluggishness it caused on my computer.

For most of us every day is like a whole new life gifted to us by the god. One day or the another it is some how special for us. Either we meet someone new or get a life time opportunity to show ourselves. But you can't tell its always good things that happens. For a student it might be like getting low marks in papers, for workers it would be like getting fired by his/her boss and for a simple home maker it is not getting her things done in time. For everyone an anyone it is different. Actually it should be different...we all got our own life and family..right!. Being different is one thing that makes our day different.

So now it is not just a new day coming, but we got a whole new year waiting for us. In this coming year it will be a grant success for some, but for a few it will bring them some bad incident to remember. When every new year comes by, we hear from a lot talking about taking new resolutions. Most of us don't actually believe in this stuff..right..the main reason I guess is that we don't keep our promises.huh:-/ As day passes most of us won't even remember what were they. So when a new year comes, resolutions taken are to keep our promises practicing all year long. But don't you think that we never couldn't make that promise true. So now when a new year arrives the only hope is that, it could bring something new in ourselves. All most everyone had a good time in 2010, so let us hope that the same thing happen in 2011. So cheers to whole those who have read this and not read this articles to acquire a great achievement and may this year makes you reach a right destination.

I know its been a while since last I made a post.Its all because I had to change my
OS to Linux recently due to the Harddisk problem and most of the works which I planned
to post here was completely lost.But thanks to linux which proved to more stable then
my previous OS I got some of it back.Here this photo is among them,This photo was
actually taken when I read through a newspaper article about bus accident in which the
bus had fallen into a nearby lake and luckily one small girl survived.The incident was
like this the girl was returning home after the classes with her friends when this
incident took place,And bus had fallen into the river and there was rescue work going
on and this girl had been in the front of the bus and she had her dress trapped
somewhere so that despite her all effort she was not able to move in the water and by
this time most of her friends had got outside the bus and saved by the rescue workers.
Since its been long time she was losing her energy & all she was hoping was any rescue
workers would turn up for her on any of her friends words who had been rescued but
nothing seemed happening and then she realized none of them is going to turn upon her
and its upto her now.

Then she looked around her and saw two three human bodies but it was all lying
motionless and decided she will give a last try before she also reaches the same state
and Its then at that moment she tried with all the energy had left in her and later
what she described gods grace by which the she was able to loosen the trap and was
able to move.So suddenly she removed her bag and reached to the window where she was
able to show her hand waving to the rescuers to see...thus was rescued.

Most of the time with us too this kind of things happened when none turns back for us
and at that time we have to realize its all upto us!!I forgot this photo was too taken
in the bus when everyone were getting down.Hope to hear your critique on it(Not the
one mentioned here)!!

Any person who has or is existing in the earth would have found himself to be part of a family when they have for the first time opened there eyes when they were born and brought to earth.May be the definition of family may be different for the different individuals for some it may be a normal family consisting of his/her father,mother other siblings...and for some it may consist of people who he/she dont have a blood relation but they might have took care of you in
yours parents absence say Nuns at centre for taking care of children or anyone
who have took you by arm when your where lying somewhere not wanted by your parents for any reasons that are not yours cause or may be some one who has born and let to live on streets with just street to take care of you and other companions from the street to share your childhood with,But when all of them look back we find one think in common that is we all need at some point of our life someone to fight against the odds in our life till we are capable of running against it ourself....And that someone is not chosen it is a duty embedded on them due to there self conscience and if they fail in that run the future of another person is in dark.....This whole case is just like how these fishing net("Cheena vala" how they are called here) stands upright against the odds of even being struck by such huge waves through out
the day just to keep up the hope of a fisherman family it has to feed to...The best part is even that dead pieces of bamboo trees tries to fight against the odds it face all time without even getting any favour back just for someone who it cannot feel for even,So I wish let these dead pieces of wood make our head bow down each time we dont stand for the ones we have to care at time of their difficulties .....!

I know this title may sound strange but this photo made an appeal on me of some thing which reminds you of end of life or even end of hope when we already know where we would ultimately reach.But I was not sure whether which one of these two version of the same photo would represent the idea more according to you So I thought of posting this two photos of the same title so you could tell me which one suites in more according to you as more closer to the title kind of idea as I have told you.So do post in your comments on it.

Paint.NET as the name suggest could not be compared to the common MS Paint.
This one has got more advanced features thats include the stuffs like the Color pallette,Layers,Effects like noise,blur,artistic,distort..etc.And almost everything you will find in almost every photoshop kind of Editors.But its not the finest photo editors for professionals when they are lot of them available in the market.
Even then it will fit fine for all amaetuer or hobbyist photographers(like me :-)).

To tell much....... working in paint.NET did not impress me much due to many reasons and also it doesn't seems to offer anything extra..


Pros:
-Its an easy download for any users even for ones using a dial up modem connection.
-Almost easy to understand simple features enough to produce proffessionalstic images.

cons:
-Not for the far end Photo editor who spends a lot time for editing purposes.

Birds eye view:Good one but not for the proffesionals.

Photo Editor is so easy to use for any person who wants to do some
minor adjustments like fixing redeye,reducing noise,blurring..etc
But its not for the folks who looks for an simpler alternative
to photoshop as it does not have that many techical based editing
options in it.But even then people who dont have or want that much
of technical know how about editing but want there pics free from
the common photo errors will find this very handy and useful.
Due to its one button go for all the editing provided on top of the window
it just amazing feature for the user.
pros:
Its FREEEEEEEE........!
Lighting option is very helpful and gives so much different feel for the photo.
Editing provided like deblur,denoise..etc works very well and get it cleared.
cons:
Not for the proffessional editors

Hi Everyone,I know its quite a while since my last blog entry.Actually I was planning to write my next post on review about some photo Editors and I want that to be in a simplified terms not like that "EXPERT ANALYSIS" type.But I was not able to put up
time for that even though I wasted plenty of it...So in the meanwhile I thought I would post one of the other pictures which I could come up with among the total of seven photos I was able to catch in my camera.Actually I thought to post this because I want you all to tell me how this picture feels....This thought has been striking me since my cousin brother told me that "He likes this picture but it is over processed"

So do comment on it and tell me whether it looks over processed to you too....
And I am trying to bring in the post on free photo editors fast!!!!!
MEANWHILE...TELL ME.....IS THIS OVER DONE.

As I had promised you all I was really planing to get some unique photos
of wayanad but unfortunately my samsung camera ruined everything.First it
started eating up the battery just as switched it on and then the condition
got ruined and its lens got stuck and was not even closing.And it was heck
getting it back home without damaging its lens.Anyway now I just hate seeing that
camera for ruining my chance for grabing some good photos and experimenting.
But even then I managed to grab around seven pics and here is one of them.
Tell me what do you think about it.Looking forward for your comments....

You heard it right this years biggest moon was visible on 30th jan
night around 8pm but lasted long for everyone to witness.I tried to capture
it in my VGA mobile camera phone but I got dissapointed and got a greenish
image of it due to chromatic abberation of the lens.But anyway I posted this photo
so that for anyone who missed it,this might give them relief.

So you guys pardon me for poor picture clarity next time I would definitely try to come up with god images of it.

We are starting off now please pray for safe return and also every one have some good time.Will be back with lots of photos for you all !!!!
